Communications and Media Specialist - Arabic

The USAID Building Economic Sustainability through Tourism project is seeking a candidate with strong Arabic language skills to join its communications team to manage media relations and be responsible for producing Arabic communications materials for the project.

Responsibilites

The Communications and Media Specialist will provide general support to the various components in maintaining media relations and producing and overseeing Arabic communication activities in support of USAID BEST work and will be responsible for production and proofing of all Arabic material required for project activities and initiatives.

  • Maintain media strategy for the project and manage media relations accordingly
  • Lead media relations in accordance with internal regulations and liaise with media for coverage of project work. Develop press releases, press kit material and articles in Arabic
  • Oversee and support tracking of media coverage of project work
  • Produce, edit and translate Arabic content for project communications and stakeholder support as needed, including for monthly newsletter, project website, reports, factsheets, marketing material subtitles, etc.
  • Develop success stories that reveal the positive impacts of the project’s work on individuals and communities.
  • Support other communications work as needed

Required skills

  • Excellent written and spoken Arabic language skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form in English.
  • University degree in related field
  • At least five years’ work experience in similar positions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines, etc. and to work in a team environment
  • Experience with local media contacts
