Jordan hosts AdventureNext Near East Conference second year in a row

The AdventureNEXT Near East conference (ANNE) 2018 opened on May 7 in Jordan held here for the second consecutive year. Following last year’s success there are high expectations for this year’s conference, which aims to connect international travel trade with regional suppliers to enhance the adventures available in the Near East region. The conference has drawn a diverse group of service providers to Jordan who are experiencing the country’s tourism offerings firsthand, helping solidify its position as an adventure travel destination.

The conference is implemented by the Adventure Travel Trade Association and the Jordan Tourism Boardwith USAID BEST support. Two weeks prior to the conference, on April 14th and 15th USAID BEST implemented AdventureEdu workshops to strengthen the industry capacity of local tour operators, guides, accommodation providers, experience/activity providers, hiking groups, and local community service providers. The 40 workshop attendees enhanced their knowledge on the global adventure tourism travel market prior to attending the conference where they are building connections with international adventure travel service providers and buyers.

According to Dr. Thaer Darwish, Managing Partner of Sindbad Group, “Meeting such a large number of international adventure travel buyers in one place is a golden business opportunity for local service providers. It gave us the chance to establish solid connections for future outdoor and adventure business opportunities.”

Conference attendees engage with one another in lectures and workshops that cover topics such as tips for sustainable tourism and content marketing, how to overcome regional stereotypes, the impact of storytelling on adventure tourism and are also given marketplace opportunities.
