Pathways to Professionalism #P2P


Pathways to Professionalism (P2P) is an innovative on-the-job training program that addresses the growing demand for qualified workers in the hospitality and tourism industry. It offers employees at hotels in Jordan the opportunity to develop their professional skills while continuing to work.

 Employees at participating hotels receive specialized training in housekeeping, food and beverage services or food production for up to three levels. One of the unique aspects of P2P is that there is no set timeframe to complete levels; this allows trainees to move at their own pace. Upon completing the training, participants undergo an examination which leads to a national certification if completed it successfully.

P2P was launched in late 2016 as a joint effort between USAID BEST, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Vocational Training Corporation. The program is supported by the Ministry of Labor and the Center of Accreditation and Quality Assurance.

A campaign was recently launched under the hashtags #P2P #الطرق_نحو_المهنية to share the experiences of coordinators, trainers, learners and graduates of P2P. Follow their stories through our social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as they are interviewed by Diala Al Dabbas. 

Watch the first episode featuring an interview with Samer Daraghmeh who trained in the Food & Beverage department at the Four Seasons Hotel in Amman. Samer was a farmer in the Jordan Valley, but found it encouraging that  he could pursue a new career path despite his experience level because of available training through the Pathways to Professionalism program.
