Building MoTA capacity throughout the Kingdom to assess hotel standards

4 Dec 2018

USAID BEST is supporting the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MoTA) to build the capacity of quality assurance and hotel classification assessors from Jerash, Ajloun, Irbid, Madaba, and As-Salt. A two-day workshop was held in Jerash for 22 assessors from these areas. It concluded today and the assessors are now equipped with the technical skills needed to conduct the hotel classification audits. The training focused on how to manage and assess classification audits and helped to enhance assessors’ abilities to interpret the data collected during the audits, detail how they can actively discuss the strengths and weaknesses revealed in the data, and mentor others on understanding quality hotel standards.

BEST continues to work closely with MoTA to improve the hotel classification process and ensure that standards across all of Jordan’s hotels are in line with the international-level criteria set by the new classification system.
