Hollywood producers and studio executives tour Jordan

With support from USAID BEST and the Jordan Tourism Board, the Royal Film Commission (RFC) organized a tour of Jordan for nine Hollywood producers and studio executives. The trip was part of RFC’s continued efforts sought to raise awareness of Jordan’s rich potential has a high quality film tourism destination by targeting international producers and location scouts.

Among the Hollywood guests were Paul Steinke, Senior Vice President of production finance at Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Production; Blanca Lista who is the Executive Producer of Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day, David T. Friendly, producer of the Big Momma’s House movie franchise, and Coco Francini who assisted in the production of Django Unchained and Contagion.

The guests enjoyed exploring a variety of destinations around Jordan, including Amman, As-Salt, Madaba, Dead Sea, Jerash, Wadi Rum and Petra. They visited the sites where major blockbuster films were shot, and also learned of other potential filming areas and opportunities in the historical and culture rich country of Jordan.

According to RFC, the filmmaking business in Jordan has generated around JD150 million and created over 5,000 full-time jobs in Jordan in the past 10 years.
