Jordan's first-ever corporate Meetings Planning Certificate program

20 Jan 2020

The Jordan Convention Bureau (JCB), supported by USAID BEST, and the global meetings industry leader, Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), partnered to bring the first corporate meetings planning workshop to Jordan and to the region. The event invited mid-to-senior level professionals in member organizations of the Jordan Convention Bureau, such as tour operators and destination management companies, to learn about effective strategies to increase competitiveness and win more regional and international business.  The program was specifically designed for the Jordanian market.

“PCMA is an important and well-known association. It is recognized internationally, and we were excited to partner with them to host an event; doing so opens the doors for destinations interested in MICE business,” said Luma Al-Khatib, Head of the Jordan Convention Bureau. She is added, “The JCB aims to develop this market, so having partnered with PCMA was a great way to launch. This was the first time a workshop about corporate meetings ever took place in Jordan.”

The workshop took place on January 18 to 19, 2020 and 25 attendees received corporate meetings planning certificates. Those certified also gained access to PCMA’s expansive online educational portal through the JCB and PCMA partnership.

Jordan has taken big strides towards becoming a more competitive destination in the global meetings industry. The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) 2018 global rankings highlighted Jordan as one of the world’s fastest growing association meetings destinations in the world. USAID BEST supported the establishment of Jordan Convention Bureau to promote Jordan as an attractive destination for meeting, incentives, conferences, and events (MICE). There remains a huge opportunity in Jordan to attract, grow and retain the lucrative corporate meetings sector, further solidifying Jordan’s position as a competitive destination in the global meetings industry.
