JTB organizes seminar as first step towards wellness tourism offerings

14 Feb 2019

On February 13, 2019, a Wellness and Health Tourism seminar took place in Amman for 75 members of the tourism and wellness industries, including hotels, tourism associations, tour operators, spas and Dead Sea product producers. Organized by the Jordan Tourism Board and led by wellness tourism expert Nassim Ghrayeb, the seminar focused on the distinctions between wellness vs. medical tourism, latest global wellness tourism trends, global spend patterns, product and market segmentation and a comprehensive situational analysis of Jordan’s wellness offerings.

“Coming into this I wasn’t sure how exciting the idea of wellness tourism would be to stakeholders in the sector given their existing business plans and strategies,” said Mr. Ghrayeb, “But I was pleasantly surprised by the level of engagement at the seminar, which demonstrated a strong appetite and recognition among the attendees that this is an area of opportunity for Jordan and for the sector specifically.”

Moving forward, Nassim Ghrayeb will be working with JTB and USAID BEST to bring about a broad strategy direction for a wellness marketing strategy framework to help businesses incorporate wellness within their offerings.
