New cultural complex opens in As-Salt

A new cultural complex opened this month in heritage buildings in downtown As-Salt, which comprises a bed and breakfast, restaurant, photo gallery and a local produce shop. The complex was established by Jordan Heritage with USAID BEST support as part of efforts to develop As-Salt as Jordan’s first Distinctive Destination and promote attract tourists to visit the city.

Located in Al-Khader Street, the complex offers unique visitor experiences within downtown As-Salt and is along the city walking trails. The restaurants serves Salti dishes as well as others from around Jordan and the shop sells local products from As-Salt (crafts and food) in collaboration with SDC’s As-Salt Gifts and Crafts Shop. The new B&B adds six rooms to the city’s accommodation offerings.

USAID BEST is working with the Salt Development Corporation and other stakeholders to develop As-Salt as a Distinctive Destination or “Storytown”.
