Building Economic Sustainability through Tourism Project

March 2019

During March, BEST worked to spread awareness of the benefits that tourism can bring to economies, youth and women. In Aqaba, this year’s International Women’s Day was celebrated through an event implemented with JOHUD where successful women working in tourism were highlighted.  In As-Salt, efforts to spread tourism awareness among the community were underway with a series of events targeted at youth and their parents. In tourism education BEST is helping to enhance the capacity of Jordanian universities and colleges to design tourism curricula in line with international best practice. Good news for Jordan’s main tourist attraction, as the Green Destinations Foundation has named the Petra Archaeological Park as one of 2019’s Global Top 100 Sustainable Destinations.
